Materials
Most of our signs are made out of a product commonly called “sign foam” which is made out of high-density urethane (HDU). This product is developed specifically for the sign industry as an alternative to wood or other common materials generally used to make signs. HDU 15 lb. density sign foam used at JPS is much more dense than traditional foam products such as Styrofoam cups or plates, making it incredibly strong and waterproof. This helps keep it from warping, splitting, and ensures it withstands even the most harsh environments for a long-lasting sign.
We also have developed our own Rhino Carve product line from PVC. This is a great material for signs because it is lightweight — making for easier transportation and installation — and it is exceptionally durable, does not become discolored, and does not warp whether the sign is installed indoors or outdoors. HDU and PVC are both completely waterproof, unaffected by temperature or moisture, and incredibly resistant to chemicals. They won’t crack, split or warp meaning they’re extraordinarily durable with a long life even in harsh environments. It also has excellent screw-holding capabilities and thermal expansion and contraction rates to ensure it stays fast when properly installed.
